SUMMARY:UAC Statewide Jail Proposal Task Force
DESCRIPTION:In a combined departmental meeting with USACCC and County Sheriffs at the 2012 Management Conference\, the decision was made to organize a UAC Task Force to prepare a statewide jail proposal.  The first meeting of that task force has been scheduled for Thursday\, May 24 from 12 noon to 2 PM to be held at the UAC office at 5397 South Vine Street in Murray.    The meeting will be streamed over the internet for those interested in participating remotely.  Follow this link to stream the meeting: www.utahtelehealth.net/live/broadcast.    County officials who are participating remotely can call into meeting to make comments. The number to do so is (801) 587-0130\, county officials will then be prompted to enter the following code: 4373#.    There is a single dedicated phone line so participants are expected to make their comments and then hang up so others can use the line. Also there is a four to six-second delay with the phone line so participants are recommended to turn down the volume on their computer when on the phone. SUMMARY:Property Tax Administration in Utah
DESCRIPTION:    Introduction  For more than ten years\, Utah Association of Counties and the Utah State Tax Commission have partnered to offer Property Tax Administration in Utah to local government officials and administrators who need a better understanding of the mechanics behind the property tax administration in Utah.    About the Class  Utah's property tax system is complex. Sometimes the administration is difficult because there are so many steps and so many different entities involved. Taxpayers who do business in more than one county are often confused when they are treated differently from one county to another. This course will point out the areas that cause the most inconsistency and confusion in administration\, and help those who must field questions from citizens to better respond and educate.    Who the Class is For  Any state\, county\, city\, school district\, and special service district government official who is directly or in-directly involved in the process of administrating property taxes in Utah.    Click Here to Review the Agenda    The cost  The $75 cost of the class covers instruction\, materials\, facility\, and food and beverage costs. There is a lunch served on the first day\, along with break snacks and beverages throughout.    Location & Parking  The class will be held in the Weber Center (Weber County's main government complex) at 2380 Washington Blvd. in Ogden. Due to the size of group\, the class has been moved from level three\, Suite 312 to the 1st Floor Commission Chambers. There is a free parking garage to the east of the building (connected to the Weber Center) that is sometimes tricky to navigate and find slots in. However\, there is an outdoor lot (also free) just to the east of the garage. The event represents a great opportunity to not only show strength in numbers and unity\, but also county officials get the chance to meet one-on-one with their local legislators and outline county positions and priorities. Ideally\, officials should contact their local legislators and invite them to the luncheon as that personal contact elevates the value for both legislators and county officials. DESCRIPTION:Boat Tour Information:  We have made arrangements with Canyonlands By Night tour operators on a limited number of tickets for their dinner and show for UAC Board Members. You can learn more about this show here: http://www.canyonlandsbynight.com/    The cost is $25 for board members and $60 for spouses. The cost includes a wonderful dutch oven dinner at 7:30 p.m.\, followed by a two-hour river boat excursion up the Colorado River\, where tour operators deliver a very patriotic and history-centric sound and light show along the canyon walls.    The Canyonlands By Night launching point is just off Highway 191 (the main road into Moab). Just before the bridge over the Colorado coming into Moab\, you will see the Canyonlands By Nights facility on the right side of the road. There is a large parking lot and gift shop located there. For those staying at Red Cliffs Lodge\, you will travel 14 miles from Red Cliffs back toward Moab on Highway 128 and take a right on Highway 191\, go over the bridge and Canyonlands By Night is an immediate left as you get off the bridge.  The dinner starts at 7:30 pm so it's recommended that everyone arrive by at least 7:15 pm.    Reviews of this tour have been very\, very positive over the years and it's common for it to sell out well in advance\, which is why we secured the tickets a couple months ago.
