UAC members make or are heavily involved in most of the purchase decisions and contracts counties enter into with private sector businesses. Because UAC is the only statewide organization for all county government officials, there are tremendous opportunities for private sector businesses to market their goods and/or services to hundreds of key decision makers in Utah’s county governments.

Utah’s county budgets reach into the hundreds of millions. For example, in 2000, Utah’s counties spent $87.5 million on highways and public improvement alone. Additionally, Utah’s counties employ more than 8,000 people. Every county purchases everything from office supplies to vehicles to employee benefits.
